Acceptable Use Policy

If you are considering sending a complaint to abuse@databasix.com about the actions of a DataBasix user, please read this first

DataBasix users are expected to adhere to the following:

 General

  • No transmission of illegal material.
  • No transmission of information or software which is intended to damage another computer.
  • No tampering with DataBasix's systems or using DataBasix's systems to commit unauthorized intrusion (cracking) into other accounts at DataBasix or any other computer system.
  • No transmission of material in violation of its copyright.
  • No sharing of your DataBasix account with any other person.
  • No sending e-mail or real-time messages to a user who has clearly asked you to refrain from contacting them.
  • No threatening bodily harm or property damage.
  • No forging of e-mail addresses or domain names.
    This includes attempts to circumvent the approval process of moderated newsgroups.
  • No transmission of Make Money Fast or other such pyramid schemes.
  • No transmission of pirated software or malicious transmission of computer viruses.


 Web Hosting Service

  • You may not use your webspace to host any form of illegal content.
  • Illicit or immoral content will not be allowed. If you are unsure, contact support and ask.
  • Misuse of the access granted will mean immediate, non-refundable cancellation of your account.


E-mail

  • No sending unsolicited commercial E-mail (UCE) or unsolicited bulk E-mail (UBE) from your DataBasix account.
  • No "spamvertising" (i.e., mailing from another site) to advertise a service provided at DataBasix.
  • No using your DataBasix account to collect responses from UCE/UBE sent from elsewhere.
  • No mailbombing. Mailbombing is defined as the act of sending numerous and/or identical messages or one large message, usually for the purposes of harassing the recipient
  • No listserv bombing. Listserv bombing is defined as the act of subscribing another individual to mailing lists without their permission.


Usenet

  • The use of a BOT of any kind is strictly forbidden.
  • No posting binary files in non-binary groups.
  • No posting commercial posts in newsgroups where such posts are prohibited by the newsgroup charter or where specific subgroups exist for commercial posts.
  • No SPAMming of Usenet. Note that non-cancelable SPAMming (SPAM but less than BI=20) is also prohibited.
  • No newsgroup flooding. Newsgroup flooding is defined as the act of posting numerous identical or substantively similar messages to a particular newsgroup, usually for the purpose of rendering it unusable.
  • No crossposting between databasix.* newsgroups and non-databasix.* newsgroups. DataBasix reserves the right to cancel an post in violation of this regardless of who posted it.
  • DataBasix limits crossposting to 10 newsgroups.
  • DataBasix propagates but does not honor cancels. DataBasix users may not cancel posts made by another with the exception of posts forged in user’s valid address.
  • DataBasix has a ZERO tolerance policy regarding forgeries. Forging a valid address and/or a valid domain will be grounds for immediate closure of your DataBasix account.
  • You may not redistribute articles or portions of articles from the databasix.* hierarchies outside DataBasix without the explicit permission of the author and anyone quoted in the article.
  • No excessive morphing to avoid killfiles.

DataBasix reserves the right to:

  • Suspend or cancel your account for activities not specifically listed above.
  • Cooperate with appropriate legal authorities and injured third parties in the investigation of suspected criminal or civil wrongdoing.
  • Remove any materials which, in our opinion, are illegal, harmful, may subject us to liability, or are in violation of our Acceptable Use Policy.
  • Cancel posts forged by any DataBasix user.
  • Cancel posts forged in the name of a DataBasix user or of any DataBasix hosted domain.
  • Modify this policy at any time.
  • Furthermore, DataBasix assumes no liability to users or others for any violations of these policies.
     

 

DataBasix USENet Policy

DataBasix has a firm commitment to the principles of free speech on the Internet and a long-standing practice of not taking sides in flamewars on Usenet. If your sensibilities are offended by posts from a DataBasix user, we recommend that you filter the offensive posts. 

DataBasix does NOT consider crossposting to be abuse and our limit of 10 newsgroups is below the cleanfeed default of 14 newsgroups.

The newsgroup  news.software.readers is also a good place to learn about different newsreaders.Should any one of those possibilities be unavailable/unappealing to you, we recommend that you learn to ignore posts that bother you.
